Hiroshima University Library will introduce a new international document delivery system “RapidILL” (Rapid Interlibrary Loan) from January 2024 with the aim of improving the convenience of users in obtaining documents. RapidILL is a system that allows you to exchange photocopied documents as electronic data in cooperation with overseas libraries.
There are no changes to the application procedure for users, but they will now be able to obtain articles, mainly foreign journal articles, faster and at a lower cost.
RapidILL has the following advantages compared to traditional document delivery methods:
1. You can quickly obtain articles mainly from overseas electronic journals.
2. Since there are no postage costs, you can obtain documents at a lower cost than before.
3. Materials that are not held in domestic libraries may be available, allowing users access to even more documents.
From now on, when we receive requests for copies of documents, etc., we will prioritize the arrangement of the documents through RapidILL.
If it is difficult to obtain them through RapidILL, we will continue to request copies from libraries in Japan or overseas. Additionally, due to copyright restrictions, electronic documents obtained through RapidILL will be provided as a printed copy. Therefore, there is no postage fee, but a copying fee is required.
