We provide HU members the service according to the Hiroshima University Activity Restrictions Index.
From June 1st, HU activities have been restricted to “Level 2", so we restarted limited services; borrowing and returning books.
In addition, the seats can be used for attending classes and conducting ongoing research from June 16.
*We have reduced the number of seats to keep distance between users.
How many seats can use?
・Central Lib. about 120 seats (usual:922seats)
・West Lib. about 200 seats (usual:852seats)
・Kasumi Lib. about 90 seats (usual:327 seats)
・Higashi-senda Lib. 30 seats (usual:81 seats)
The facilities for group learning and discussion or poorly ventilated room are suspended.
Please check the news "Restart of Some Services" and consider visiting.
The information about the services during the library closing is below.
1. Kasumi Library items (books, journals and newspapers) are unavailable.
2. Return the books you borrowed to the book drop (available 24 hours).
3. Please call the library before coming to receive books or journals purchased on public expense through the library.
4. You can request articles (on campus/outside)or the books on other Hiroshima University libraries.
The library will inform you the date and time when you can get them in advance by E-mail.
※ All Hiroshima University libraries (including Kasumi) are closed from December 28th (Sat) to January 5th (San).
※ The part of renovation work inside the library is scheduled to be finished by February 9th.
The partial services (the same as the service by December) for campus members will be available on February 10th again. The part of the seats for campus members alse will be availeble at the same time.
Do not forget to bring your Hiroshima University ID card (to enter, use and take a seat).
All services for visitors are scheduled to be available in the middle of May 2020.

The Writing Center at Hiroshima University, Japan, has announced its job opening for a Writing Advisor Fellow (Paid). We have just created the Writing Advisor Fellowship program which is for someone who wishes to gain professional experiences working with non-native English writers and speakers, focusing on academic writing at the tertiary level and above. The Fellow will work full-time at Hiroshima University, located in Higashi-Hiroshima, for a contract period of six months starting from August/September 2016.

Guideline for the Writing Advisor Fellowship 2016 (please refer to the full description of the Guideline)
Position Title:
Writing Advisor Fellow (Full time)
Position Summary:
The Writing Advisor Fellow will provide consultation about academic writing in English, such as drafts for academic journals and proposal abstract drafts for international conferences and also to plan, organize, and lead seminars and workshops related to improving Hiroshima University (HU) faculty members’ academic writing and presentations. Other responsibilities include developing and maintaining a handbook for academic writing consultations with researchers at HU. In addition, it is strongly expected that the Fellow will collaborate with Writing Center staff members to contribute to enhance research competitiveness of HU.
Working Location:
Primarily at the Research Planning Office, 1st Floor of the Headquarter building, Higashi-Hiroshima Campus, Hiroshima University (1-3-2 Kagamiyama, Higashi-Hiroshima, 739-8511 Japan)
Writing consultation will be held at the Writing Center, 1st Floor of the Central Library, Higashi-Hiroshima Campus, Hiroshima University (1-2-2 Kagamiyama, Higashi-Hiroshima, 739-8512 Japan).
Main Responsibilities:
* The Fellow would not do proofreading of full papers.
* An experienced mentor in consultation on academic writing will give advice to the fellow.
Qualifications:
Starting Date:
August/September 2016 (exact starting date is negotiable)
* The successful applicant may have the opportunity to begin some paid work via e-mail or video conference prior to the official start date in Hiroshima. The details will be discussed during interviews with the shortlisted candidates.
Term:
A six month initial contract. After a two-month trial period, one year contract extension may be negotiated.
* Any work completed prior to arrival will be paid hourly and separately from this contract.
Working Hours:
Weekdays from 8:30 to 17:15 (with one hour lunch break from 12:00 to 13:00).
* The Fellow will need to have a flexible schedule to accommodate consultations before or after researchers’ academic responsibilities or to hold seminars and workshops at convenient time for participants. Daily work hours for the Fellow will not exceed 7 hours 45 min of work time.
